Co-organized by the Permanent Mission of Viet Nam to the United Nations, Viet Arts in Action at the Weatherhead East Asian Institute, and the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra, *A Life in Cinema* is a one-night-only cine-concert by Sundance Award-winning filmmaker Tony Bui, who serves as Artistic Director, featuring a rare New York appearance by the Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra.

Through a carefully curated journey of Vietnamese cinema, the program brings together scenes from decades of films to tell the story of Viet Nam through memories, lives, and experiences captured on screen. From youth and innocence, through periods of upheaval and war, to peace, renewal, and a new era, *A Life in Cinema* reflects the transformation of a nation and its people across generations.

Presented at the historic BAM Howard Gilman Opera House, this cine-concert transforms unforgettable cinematic images into a continuous dialogue between film and music — celebrating the richness of Vietnamese stories, cinema, and cultural heritage.

The event is presented in partnership with the New York Asian Film Festival as part of U.N. General Assembly Week.
