Discover The Hán–Nôm Research Hub Page On The Digitizing Vietnam Platform

For many centuries, before the Latin-based Quốc Ngữ script became the dominant writing system, most Vietnamese knowledge and cultural life were recorded in Classical Chinese (Hán) and Nôm, the script developed by Vietnamese scholars to represent the Vietnamese language. From literature and history to geography, philosophy, and religion, the corpus of Hán–Nôm texts preserves important traces of Vietnam’s intellectual and cultural life across different historical periods.
Today, many Hán–Nôm texts remain scattered across libraries, archives, temples, and private collections. As a result, access to these valuable materials remains difficult not only for the general public but also for researchers.
To help expand access to this important body of sources, Digitizing Vietnam has developed the Hán–Nôm Research Hub page as part of its digital platform.
The Hán–Nôm Research Hub page is designed as a digital scholarly space dedicated to introducing and connecting Hán–Nôm resources. Here, readers can explore digitized collections, research projects, and initiatives that are helping bring Vietnam’s classical textual heritage into the digital environment.
By linking collections and scholarly projects from a variety of institutions, the page serves as a shared access point for Hán–Nôm research, supporting scholars, students, and anyone interested in Vietnamese history and culture.
The Hán–Nôm Research Hub page is part of the broader mission of the Digitizing Vietnam platform—an inter-institutional initiative that leverages digital technology and artificial intelligence to advance research and broaden access to knowledge in Vietnamese Studies worldwide.
Through these efforts, Digitizing Vietnam aims not only to preserve Vietnam’s textual heritage but also to create new ways to explore, research, and teach Vietnamese history and culture in the digital age.
